The Little Things: Mindfulness During Healthy Habit and Lifestyle Change

While you’re going through this process of behavioral and lifestyle change, don’t forget about the little things.

We tend to get so caught up with the numbers on the scale, or how we fit in these pants or that dress, that we forget the purpose of it all.

Remind yourself of your ‘why’ and remember that health is more than just a number or what we look like on the outside.

Exercising, balanced nutrition, habit and lifestyle change are all things that happen from the inside out, and it’s important to give yourself the appropriate recognition!

These little things might be that:

  • Your clothes fit better

  • Your nails and hair are growing stronger

  • Your typical mid-afternoon slump is not much of a “slump” anymore

  • You have more patience with those around you

  • You’re staying asleep the whole night

  • You do not feel as agitated despite not having your morning coffee

  • You can keep up with your kids or grandkids

  • Your eyes and skin aren’t as dry

  • You can get through your workout and still have energy to spare

  • You do not need as much caffeine to get through the day

These aren’t necessarily things that we can see, but they make a huge difference in how we feel day to day.

These are not necessarily things that we can see, but they make a huge difference in how we feel day to day.

Whether it is through a nutrition program, or when you try to make habit changes in the future, the little things make up the big things.

Try to pay attention to the little things changing on the inside, and watch how they grow themselves into change on the outside!

The day you plant the seed is not the day you eat the fruit.
